This poor blog has been neglected for nearly a year, but photos of work and toys need a resting place, and I haven't decided on Tumblrs for stuff. Besides, I like having a home for what I DO post here. So, a taste of what I've been up to for the past several months. A doll post will be up soon!
Numen & Genius - collage and photo with acrylic on plexiglass palette for Northville Art House
Mari's Cave - clay, gesso, acrylic, auto glass on wood for Northville Art House
Battle Squid - acrylic on canvas for LIFT show
Henry Darger Tribute - felt over composition doll, shrink plastic for Northville Art House
What About the Children? - collage on panel GID for Funhouse Gallery
The Goldfinch - mixed media on wood with felted bird for Ferndale Public Library
Also, at the Woods Gallery, at the Huntington Woods Public Library, are five of my pieces, two made for this show. The Spirits Show opens Friday (but the show is actually up to view already). The other artists are Lisa Grix, Renee Dooley, and Took Gallagher. Below are three views of The Spirit of Bad Dolls, then an embellished Nino de Atocha statue.
Though i've got a few commercial links on this site, it's rare for me to mention a product or service unless it's a film or book i'm reviewing. But some of my Art-O-Mat recipients and fellow artists might like to know about moo.com, the on-demand, customizable sevice for business cards, stickers, greeting cards, and postcards. I use the minicards, half the size of a standard business card, perfect for inclusion in Art-O-Mat projects which measure 2 1/8" x 3 1/4". Minis can easily fit in an Art-O-Box without bending, and you can get cute keyring clip plastc cases to carry cards with you. Besides the uniquely practical size of the mini-MOOs, you can design your cards online with a simple template and upload process which troubleshoots image issues before placing an order. As this blog shows, i'm a less than stellar photographer, but my cards always look better and more professional than the original files. Best of all, moo keeps your text and art designs, and you can build a library. You can have up to 100 designs per box of 100. Because i work in a number of media, it's nice to be able to have a wide variety of examples to hand out. Delivery is fast, usually about a week, but they do have a rush service. They are based in the U.K. and the U.S.A., ship internationally, and take credit cards AND paypal. That is all.
